10 Life Lessons I learned in my Twenties

deutsch

O

mg.

In honour of my 30th birthday, I am sharing

10 life lessons I learned in my twenties

1. Life is meant to be lived | Die letzten Jahre waren nicht immer einfach. Manchmal muss man einfach loslassen und schauen was passiert.

2. Happiness is a choice.

3. You can do and have everything , but you can’t do and have it all at the same time | Du kannst im Leben soviele Dinge tun.

4. If it costs you your peace it’s to expensive| Es gibt Dinge, die man mit aller Kraft festhalten möchte obwohl sie einem nicht gut tun.

5. If you aren’t happy – change something.

7. You will never be able to escape from your heart. So it is better to listen to what it has to say.

8. So far you’ve survived 100% of your worst days | Ha!

9. If the door doesn’t open it’s not your door | Wenn ich etwas unbedingt will, kann ich sehr ungeduldig und hartnäckig sein.

10. Your mind is a powerful thing | So wahr!

O

mg. I still can’t believe that I just turned 30 years old last sunday! It feels like I just left school last year and I don’t feel like 30 years at all! Looking back at the last ten years, there has been so many huge changes, challenges and growth though. I moved out of my parents house at 22 and moved in with my boyfriend.

I also started my job and traveled the world. We have been to so many amazing places – some places I loved so much that we went twice like New York, which is the most amazing city in the world to me and I will definitely visit this place as often as possible. I also loved Miami, LA and Las Vegas. Cancun was paradise, Marbella is my favorite destination in Spain and we just discovered Dubai as our favorite place for a getaway. City Trips are always a little stressful but so much fun! We have been to London (definitely will go again during christmas time!), Milano and Vienna so far and there are still so many cities on my bucket list.

Getting married was never a thing for me. I never dreamed of a big day with a white dress until the day Eric proposed. He popped the question on our first trip to New York in 2012, on top of Rockefeller Center. I had absolutely no idea he had planned this for weeks! It was one of the most overwhelming and amazing moments of my life so far. I always knew he was the love of my life and since he proposed I fell in love with the idea to get married, too. I got married at 25 (we are celebrating our 5th anniversary this year!) and didn’t regret it for one second.

Fashionwise there has been a major transformation in the last ten years, too. I found my signature style and I also bought my first designer handbag at 26. I fell even more in love with fashion during the last 5 years and I still feel like this is just the beginning of a long journey.

In honour of my 30th birthday, I am sharing

10 life lessons I learned in my twenties

1. Life is meant to be lived | The last few years have been a really hard time. I struggled with anxiety and almost lost all my self-confidence. Last year I was finally able to win the battle because I realized that I can’t control everything. Sometimes you just have to let go, breathe and see what happens. Just like airplanes were built to fly, we are here to live. If you keep an airplane down on earth, it is going to rust.

2. Happiness is a choice. If you focus on the negative things your feelings will be negative, too. There is good in every day and in everyones life. Focus on the positive instead. Decide to be happy every day. Practice gratitude if you want to be happy.

3. You can do and have everything , but you can’t do and have it all at the same time | There are so many things to do, achieve or be in life. You can be a girl boss, a party girl, a wife, a mom, a house owner, someone with few or huge responsibilities – you just have to decide what you want first.

4. If it costs you your peace it’s to expensive| There are things that are bringing you down but you also want to keep them for several reasons. I found that there is nothing more valuable than my inner peace. That’s a price I am not willing to pay anymore. No matter what.

5. If you aren’t happy – change something. | Omg change was something that scared me to death. I was always in love with my comfort zone which was very small at times. I learned that change is necessary, inevitable and at least a great thing! Through change we learn and grow. I don’t want my life to look the same every day anymore. I want to go for my goals, chase my dreams, learn, grow, explore and create a life I love.

6. Pressure is poison | I used to put myself under a lot of pressure without even realizing it. Stop being so hard on yourself, 100% are enough, sometimes even 80 % are okay. Nobody is perfect. We need to accept who we are and find the strengths in that.

7. You will never be able to escape from your heart. So it is better to listen to what it has to say. | There where times when I felt completely lost. I didn’t know what my purpose was and wasn’t even able to hear my inner voice anymore. Truth is, I heard my inner voice, I just didn’t listen. When I finally did everything changed for the better, I found my purpose and everything made sense again.

8. So far you’ve survived 100% of your worst days | Ha! This is an addition to my anxiety thing. Whenever I feel anxious or afraid again, I always tell myself that.

9. If the door doesn’t open it’s not your door | I can be very stubborn when I want something and if that doesn’t work out I am always very frustrated. By now I am way more relaxed. If this door won’t open, another one will.

10. Your mind is a powerful thing | This is so true. If you tell yourself that you are going to fail, you will fail. If you believe in yourself you will make it. If you constantly focus on your goal, life will give you opportunities and bring you closer to where you want to be along the way. Good things take time but the right mindset is almost everything you need to make your dreams come true!

  • Family is everything. Spent as much time with them as possible.
  • Never thought I would feel that way but I love being married!
  • I don’t want to grow up. Still want to jump in the pool with clothes on, spontaneously dance to my favorite songs or eat a whole bar of chocolate in the middle of the night.
  • The world is not fair but still good.
  • Learn to rest, not to quit.
  • Selfcare is a priority.
  • It’s always rumbling when life changes up.
  • Don’t leave all the laundry till it all piles up. #foreverironing

Although it wasn’t always easy, looking back now I am thankful for every struggle because it brought me where I am now. I have so many dreams, plans and goals for the next 10 years and I am excited to see what life will bring! So cheers to the thirties <:
